Heads up: Some or all of the identifications affected by this split may have been replaced with identifications of Demansia. This happens when we can't automatically assign an identification to one of the output taxa. Review identifications of Demansia reticulata 539606

Taxonomic Split 127673 (Δημιουργήθηκε στις 16-04-2024)

Nankivell et al. 2023 found some populations referred to D. r. cupreiceps Storr are not distinguishable from more typical D. reticulata but the widespread central Australian population (treated by most authors as part of cupreiceps) was shown to be specifically distinct. They describe the species, naming it D. cyanochasma.

Demansia reticulata cupreiceps still a valid ssp according to Reptile Database, can you contact them? They did just add Demansia cyanochasma though

I've spoken to Peter (@uetz) and he will amend the Demansia reticulata entry in the Reptile Database.

@uetz Peter, is there any progress on amending the Demansia reticulata entry in The Reptile Database to sink the subspecies, in line with Nankivell et al., 2023?

@loarie I have altered this from a split of Demansia reticulata cupreiceps to a split of Demansia reticulata in order to carve off the D. cyanochasma observations without having to deal with the subspecies glitch in TRD. This is now ready to go - most D. cyanochasma observations have been reidentified manually, anyway, but committing the split will tie up a few loose ends.
