Fungus is not a load of horse dung

If you see something that looks like horse dung lying on the road – it is either actual dung from a horse, or a Pisolithus, species unknown, formerly known as the Horse Dung Fungus.

New EXPLORE page on web site

One of the most powerful features of iNaturalist is the ability to filter data - enabling multiple views of the same data by major life form, observation date and more. But it can be a pain if you want to use the same filters over and over.

We have made that easy on our new EXPLORE page - creating standard views for each major life form, sorted by observation date (not upload date).

Try it out, and let us know what you think!

Birdlife Shoalhaven presents Bushfire Recovery Project Tues 23 May Kangaroo Valley

BIRDLIFE SHOALHAVEN’S BUSHFIRE RECOVERY PROJECT – THE PEOPLE AND THE BIRDS – a presentation by BirdLife Shoalhaven President, Rob Dunn
TUESDAY 23 MAY • 5-7PM KANGAROO VALLEY COMMUNITY HALL
Straight after the Black Summer 2019-20 bushfires, members of BirdLife Shoalhaven (BLS) started surveying birds as part of their contribution to the recovery process. This increasing amount of data evolved into Bushfire Recovery Project. Three years later BLS has prepared its final report for the project drawing on 750 volunteer surveys from sites across the Shoalhaven.
Rob’s presentation will cover the report’s analysis of changes in species richness and abundance since the bushfires across sites of different fire severity. He will talk about the impacts on certain birds species and who the winners and losers might be into the future.
While the report focuses on birds, it is also about people. Rob will tell the human story behind the project and how it became a catalyst to bring birders, non-birders, landowners and groups together across the Shoalhaven wanting to learn more.

Organised by Shoalhaven Landcare. Entry is free. Light refreshments provided.
