I am a botanist, former faculty member at Colorado State University, later managing the Jepson Manual Project in the Jepson Herbarium at UC Berkeley, then serving as Director of Research at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, and now retired but still remaining active.

My interests include the native plants of western North America, especially Polemoniaceae. I have written taxonomic treatments for several genera, including Collomia, Ipomopsis, Langloisia, Loeseliastrum, and Polemonium, and have have co-authored publications on Ceanothus.
