My stomping grounds are primarily within Palm Beach (where I live) and Martin (neighboring to the north) Counties in southeast Florida. PBC is the 3rd largest county in Florida at 2,034 square miles. There are several dozen natural areas that I frequent and a few others I have on my bucket list. As a 1-mile an hour hiker, I am a soloist. Certain days are better than others, but what is great about iNat is one can build a body of work. 581 animal species in South Florida. I especially like working on and adding observations to projects. I like to see if I can "put it on the map" with 100 plus animals at a natural area and visit there all 12 months of the year. I am not a very good identifier. My talent is in the stealthy grunt work of going out and photographing unique things. I try to get creative shots that impress myself, like using trail cameras (I got a Panther and a Bear using a TC) or inventing a mount to use with a GoPro. Quality and capturing a good animal profile are my aim when shooting because research grade is the best achievement for an observation. I will take photos of flowers and fungus that catch my eye, but I am really after anything in the animal kingdom. If you are interested in using any of my photos for outreach or research, please let me know. I am happy to share the high quality versions!
As my interest in wildlife photography has grown, I started making iNat an integral part of my travel/vacation plans.
