On 04/02/24 I saw a Bluejay (Cyanocitta cristata) on the bird feeder outside the Macoskey Center. The Bluejay is characterized by its bright blue feathers, black necklace, and white belly.

The weather on this day was very rainy, with a temperature of 52°f (high 61°f, low 48°f). The wind was about 9mph with 20mph gusts.

The Bluejay likes to live on the edges of forests and sometimes urban or suburban areas. They enjoy visiting oak trees and bird feeders. Bluejays prefer to eat insects, nuts, and seeds making them omnivores. They build their nests in thick branches of deciduous or coniferous trees about 10-25 feet off the ground. An interesting fact that I found is that Bluejays mate for life and they are good a mimicking.
