Maybe this- hard to get a good photo. Sunning itself on the base of a tree trunk. Approx 4-5mm body.
Very small flies (~2mm) on roadkill kangaroo carcass. Location is about 1km from the ocean. I had expected they would turn out to be Piophilidae but that doesn't seem right so I am going with Ephydridae.
This looks like a Muscid, along the lines of Pygophora??
