Only about 4" tall with the red "peppers". This was a solitary specimen alongside the trail. I saw no other cacti that looked similar to this one. The white spines offer a fuzzy look. The fruit appear like small, red Chile's. One observer iof the photo ndicated the fruit were sweet.

50x25' 80% living. Plants are closer to ground relative to nearby stand, and extend coverage up rock slope. Large number of trunks, perhaps forty. No mistletoe.
only one patch, mostly dead, but with some new live shoots. Patch size 25' X 15'.
