This fungus is probably one of my favorite mystery, I have collected it for several years but erratically from a spot measuring a few meters in this park, and nowhere else. I tried to culture it, but failed numerous time, and both ITS, LSU and SSU obtained from material extracted from fresh material was nebulous at best.
Hence, I am posting this here, so hopefully someone else collect it, as I believe this could be a new species or a new genus, and I want more specimens to attempt to understand it better.
Habitat : on very wet and rotten wood, without bark, one specimen on rotten lead litter. all specimens come from a forest that is flooded in spring up to early June and are found growing in late June to early July.
Microscopy is distinctive, this is an hyphomycetes, the cells of the stipe are hugely inflated, and conidia seem to be produced in a thallic fashion on the top, conidia bullet shaped (truncated at the base and measuring around 6-4u.
If you find this please let me know, because I would like to publish this one eventually
