I am a retired academic zoologist (U. Cardiff, UK) now living in SW England. My academic research interests were in 2 fields: 1. the physiological, behavioural & ecological adaptations of animals (birds) living in difficult environments (deserts & oceanic); 2. mechanisms & endocrine control of salt & water transport in intestines, kidneys & avian nasal salt glands. In retirement with my wife, we have expanded our lifelong interest in widlife in general, and our enjoyment of travelling in pursuit of these interests. I am a keen photographer: any wildlife which looks interesting or attractive makes a good subject.
