I grew up in New Hampshire and have always been at home in the woods. When we moved to a new place in May 2021, I started noticing ALL the mushrooms while walking the dog. But it wasn't until I saw my first crop of gorgeous black trumpets on the path behind the house (away from any chemicals...) that I became dedicated to figuring out just what I was seeing. After lots of research, and a friend who turned me on to the Seek app, I decided it was safe to eat the trumpets. Chanterelles were next, then a not-great experience with pale chicken of the woods. Spore prints are now a side hobby (the grisette in my profile picture was my very first one) . So glad to be part of a community.
