Diatomist has studied New Zealand benthic freshwater and coastal diatoms. Listed as principal author of the chapter on Ochrophyta in the New Zealand Inventory of Biodiversity as the most diverse group was diatoms. I have also taken part in several Bioblitzes with keen naturalists from varied backgrounds.
