I’m the Co-Director of the Urban Nature Research Center and Curator of Herpetology at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. I study the natural history, ecology, evolution, and conservation of reptiles and amphibians. Much of my community science research is focused on understanding the impacts of urbanization on biodiversity, including using crowdsourcing to detect and monitor the spread of non-native species. I also use modern day species occurrence records---most of which are from community science---to compare to historical museum records to assess how the distributions of species are changing through time.
In addition to publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts, I am a co-author of "Wild LA" Explore the Amazing Nature in and around Los Angeles."
