I am an ecologist at Stellenbosch University, South Africa (https://blogs.sun.ac.za/cib/) but am spending a year (June 2022 to June 2023) of sabbatical leave in Prague, Czech Republic.
I work on biological invasions, mainly invasive plants and particularly trees and shrubs. The genera Acacia, Ailanthus, Alnus, Casuarina, Eucalyptus, Hakea, Melaleuca, Paraserianthes, Pinus, Prosopis, Psidium and Schinus have featured prominently in the work of my lab group. Most of my work has been conducted in South Africa, especially in the fynbos and savanna biomes, but I have worked in many other parts of the world. I am interested in natural history in general.
I co-edited the 2020 book "Biological Invasions in South Africa" which is available for FREE downloading at: https://www.springer.com/gp/book/9783030323936.
