I'm currently away without access to any of my books, so I will not be able to ID a number of taxa for a little while. I'll be back to the normal schedule in August!
Alrighty, I'm back! I've got a bit more free time to try to catch up on some regular IDs, but it's always a tradeoff between identifying other sightings and trying to upload the enormous backlog of my own photos.
At the moment I'm doing a mixture of bulk IDs and detailed IDs.
Generally my detailed IDs are of my own sightings, and there'll be some sort of broad ID help included in most of them. Things like guides to difficult species groups, resolution of persistent misidentifications, etc. I've collected all of these sightings with detailed comments here.
I've just started up with the bulk IDs again. I'm going through all of the Australian mantis sightings that I missed while I was away, but I'm also re-reviewing every single katydid sighting in Australia. I'm making good headway on both so you may see some tough groups being resolved to a lower level than we've previously tried (e.g. Tympanophora, Requena, etc.).
I am only just getting back to doing general IDs and it will be a while before I can get to everything, so if you need an ID please tag me and I will see what I can do! If you've tagged me and haven't heard back, I promise I've got your observation bookmarked and I will get to it at some point. It's just been quite a while since I've looked in detail at grasshoppers or cockroaches or centipedes or stuff like that and I prefer to do a bunch of IDs at once so that I know what I'm doing. So it might take several months but I promise I will get to it!
Entomology student specialising in Australian mantises, but with a keen interest in all orthopteroid insects and of course all organisms! I used to post my own sightings on Bowerbird (http://www.bowerbird.org.au/users/34690/sightings) but now that the site is being shut down I've transferred them all over to iNat. I'm also woefully behind on sorting through all my photos, so most of my sightings will be at least two years old by the time I get to them! Follow me on Facebook for nature photography and entomological musings (https://www.facebook.com/YellowMondayMC/)
I currently do IDs for all the Mantodea of Oceania as well as for a variety of Australian taxa that are grouped together in this project. I'll get around to them all eventually but if I've missed one and you want an ID, please tag me!
I recently created a handy guide to help people identify the introduced South African Mantis (Miomantis caffra) in Australia that can be accessed here
I'll hopefully get around to all of the Australian Orthopteroids eventually, but in the meantime check out the project I've made for them: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/australian-orthopteroids
Have a look at some of my favourite places here: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/a-few-of-my-favourite-places
I often spend a lot of time trying to identify my sightings, so recently started adding all of my thought processes to sightings where I have put a lot of effort in. They should be pretty helpful for people who want to try to identify their own sightings. All are collected here.
