Reported by Meg Fulford, Greymouth Star journalist. Shoals reported to be under the Greymouth wharf. Photo supplied.
Large, ~1.2m. Wasn't next to the boat ramp the day before. Only visible damage was to the lower jaw and the kink/twist where it was folded over. Trawlers and a longliner(?) operate from the wharf, locals report catching large pale or grey eels in the harbour.
found on White reef in Deep Water Cove on SE corner at 16m
Very small juvenile hanging out under the mooring buoy on the wreck. Couldn't get a decent photo but hopefully enough to id it. Thinking either very small juvenile Kingfish or maybe small juvenile drummer.
Really cool to see these. There were a couple solitary ones and a couple of small schools around different Lions mane jellyfish. One swam deep into the jellyfish's' stomach to get away from me.
~2-5cm long
Lots of tiny and small ones swimming within the Lions manes near shore.
~0.6-4cm long
There were a few of these around in the rock pools. Sometimes in twos, or in a small group. They look like juvenile of something and I've taken a guess that they're some kind of drummer. I even wondered if they could be parore that haven't yet grown stripes.
They were interested in and appeared to feed on the crushed oyster I dropped in.
Photos VERY heavily cropped from GoPro images.
Found floating on it's side in the shallows. Picked up by hand and then released after photos
