Three small trees are growing together underneath a few massive oaks! No fruit currently as it was all eaten by birds in the area. Strong burnt almond smell when sticks are scratched. Leaves simple and alternate, with some fuzzy pubescence on underside at the base!
Bright yellow flowers with alternating leaves. Stem was tinted a purple-shade, and it was very tall. Found growing on along the road in the sand; very sunny and open habitat.

Notes: the leaves of this plant are simple, alternate, and the leaf blades have no teeth or lobes. This flower is blueish-purple. I happened to find this specimen on a roadside near a small pond.

This tree was found in the woods with a stream nearby. The leaves were green on both sides with edges not dropping and moderately lobed. Each leaf had 5 lobes.

-Flowers bright yellows, each flowering head composed of numerous tiny, regular shaped petals.
-Majority of flowers in terminal cluster at the tip of the stem
-Alternate leaves are simple, entire, longer than they are wide, smooth
-Plant is erect, ~2-3 ft tall
