Associated with Stereum hirsutum on dead Alnus rubra (closeup in photo 2)
Under salal leaves and Douglas fir. 9 cm long cap by 9 cm long stalk, outer cap smooth; light golden color with some areas golden light-brown towards center; Outer cap 'skin' peels off easily, non-staining cap and stalk. Stalk smooth, dry. Possibly weakly reticulate. Not sure. Most outer stalk fibers are going in a vertical position. The stalk,
when dissected, has many easily separated mangy, shaggy spaghetti squash like , loosely held together fibers that release readily from each other in shred-like pieces.
Mycelium appears to be some white and some yellow and present botth at base and up onto center stalk of mushroom. Yellow spores.
Underside of mushroom is attached to the stalk.
Taste of cap skin and flesh delicious raw.
