This group of flamingos were feeding in a shallow pond along the edge of the international highway near Chucuyo. The group appears to consist of one adult, in full pink coloration, with a group of subadult animals.
The reddish legs and black "knees" of the adult, I think, makes it a P. chilensis.

There are no trees at this altitude that would provide nest cavities for flickers. Here, they use tunnels in the cliffs (picture 3). I don't know what animal makes the initial holes. Perhaps these same birds?
