I was concerned that these little guys had been extirpated from Saxe Point after I checked for them earlier in the season with no luck. Last time I checked (3 weeks prior) was in the afternoon after the flowers had all closed up for the day, making them nearly impossible to spot growing among the trampled grasses. Today when I was looking for them I was unable to spot them in known locations until about 9:00 AM when the flowers began to open for the day. After finding them in the largest mapped area where they were known to be found (according to the BC species and ecosystem explorer) I checked the two smaller areas and found them in both those locations as well. In 2006, M. Fairbarns recorded 400-500 plants in total spanning the 3 areas. Although I didn't count the population today, I would estimate that there were a similar number of plants now as there were back in 2006.
