Fledgling .First seen on upper intertidal rocks but as we approached it crossed the small sandy lower beach and climbed slowly to the top of the 2m high seagrass wrack mounds where it seemed content, despite occasional dogs on and off leash walking past with their owners. There were a modest number of adults on the water and on rocks not yet inundated by the rapidly rising tide some distance offshore, and I guess they included the parents.

My nemisis!
Of all the birds I've photographed, these are always the ones that just got away. Still a crap shot, but identifiable.
