White, papery bark, with areas that look like it is flaking. Trunk is about 15cm across. Height is about 50'. Visible leaves are dead, but can see the shape. They are ovate, widest at the base and middle and then coming to a point. Coarse toothing on the leaves. It is in a mixed forest with birch and spruce, as well as willows.
Large spruce, 70-80' tall. The trunk is a diameter of approx. 25 cm, which is typical of a white spruce. Bark is scaly plates. Drooping branches that have a slight upturn at the end. Their leaves are needle-like, spreading on all sides of the twig. White lines on the sides of the needles. I think it’s a white spruce because the twigs don’t have any hairs on them (like a black spruce would). Also because of its larger size and large trunk. I was unable to locate a cone.
Wild crab apple with a couple of red apples left on.
