New growth and exuberant acorns following August and September rains.
Largish herb growing along the old road ruin at the mouth of San Antonio Canyon, San Gabriel Mountains. Flowers small, but showy, yellow with red nectar guides. Coin used for scale is a US quarter dollar (¢25 piece), 24.26 mm, 0.955 inch in diameter. Photos # 1-2 taken with flash and reduced exposure, hence the black background; I wanted to more vibrantly capture the color of the flower in the never-ending gray-light hell of the 2023 mega-June-gloom.
