Occasionally the main wetland here dries out stranding thousands of fish and other water creatures.
Found underneath some rocks; rolls up when provoked
Presumably M. australiense but Finke R population is known to be long isolated and genetically distinct from other lineages (Murphy & Austin 2004). Animal released alive.
Subadult BL~ 17mm. Found feeding in direct sunlight around midday, 38C. On top of a post.
from a mainland fringing reef
looks like O. scyllarus but it’s really dark in colour, which is confusing. never seen one that dark before
