Field Notes - Found under the rocks in the small caves at Tawharanui Beach. Low tide.

Field Notes - Flotsam crab. An oceanic species with highly variable colours. Found crawling along the rocks on the west coast.

2cm animal, in 2.5m water over open sand and algae.

Decided to change to P. tarona on review of R Burn Nudibranch field guide book.

Eating the Velella Velella.

roughly 20mm long, showing aggressive behaviours.

Found washed up on the rocks after high tide. Nearby a location known for surf casting.

Not sure if this is a hydrozoan or a sea weed. Locally common, on common flapjack.

Found in 9m of water on a dive at Goat Island

Found these beautiful corals on a dive at Goat Island.
Around 9 metres deep found on the rocky outcrops in among the kelp beds.

Found snorkeling in a few m of water. Scanned from a 35 mm slide.

Not too sure with the ID but looks like this Bryozoan. If you zoom in on the picture you may see some beautiful detail of the zooids. Found encrusting a Serpulorbis which was about 40mm long.

Some friendly fish found swimming amongst the kelp forests.
