Dead bull kelp with epiphytic filamentous red algae growing on it.
Found in low intertidal zone exposed at low tide attached to rock substrate. Population of seaweeds is very dense at this spot. Lots of Alaria and Egregia in addition to many other species of algae present.
Identified by five midribs.

Of the algae present in this photo the Nereocystis luetkeana are the individuals with the pnuematocysts (bulbs where the blades are attached).
