Note the extremely short tail. When flying, the tail is spread widely, fan-like; if seen from below, the bird can then really look like a small vulture.
We saw these birds several times in the area near Al Ula, always near mountains or cliffs, in pairs or small groups; they seemed quite shy.

These were the best shots I could get from these moving targets, from my high vantage point.
At least some of these were Spanish sparrows, in a
mixed flock with house sparrows.
