I’ve seen @aaronjhillard ‘s and @millivedder ’s Cantharellus formosus observations and thought I’d see for myself. Chanterelles in June seemed pretty crazy! I went back to where I had found some last year, and, sure enough, found some beautiful little butter sponges! I feel bad for picking them though, they were way too tiny. I should have left them there and come back to them in a couple of days. Also, I’m pretty sure I’ve accidentally come across someone else’s secret chanterelle spot, but whatever.
Oh, and happy 200th observation!
Lobster mushrooms. Host species appear to be Russula. Interestingly, the 3rd pic is of a russula that popped up just 15 feet away a few days ago and was already "moldy" within a day. Unsure if they're related but they were exceptionally close together so there is a possibility they are.
Found fruiting gregariously at base of a few mature Douglas firs.
Growing right out of a twig. It was very clear how it got its name!
Dark brown / black spore print. Smells like crimini. Mild taste, earthy.
2nd find of the year! Big patch, too. Perfect butter sponges!
They were all clustered together. The older one was pretty big. The universal veil remnants were white, sorta fuzzy, and carpeted the cap. This, combined with the cap color, volva, and annulus, suggests A. aprica.
Has that almondy scent. Cap edges bruise yellow. The large one has pinkish gills and is dropping chocolate brown spores.
In shade on the side of a building. Didn’t have a lot of time to photograph, I was in a hurry. Cool find though!
It was very scrunched up against the side of the concrete, and was probably a little rotten too. I found a more intact but older one growing in the same area as well.
Psilocybe mushroom of some kind psilocybe Baeocystis is my best guess followed by Allenii , the darks caps make me think more Baeocystis
