Eurasian coot Mating The Eurasian Coot is recognised by its snowy white bill and forehead shield. The remainder of the bird is dark sooty grey, except for its bright red eye. Immature birds are generally paler than adults with a white wash on the throat. Nestlings are downy, black with fine yellow tips. I don't know how to identify willows very well. I think this might be S. lasiandra or S. scouleriana. Any help with how to identify them or what should be photographed to help identify them would be appreciated.

Last photo was taken Feb. 24, 2023 to show how the leaf scar and bud without leaves.

Elsie Mae, #1285, returned to Fidalgo Island on June 16th and has remained at this beach since then. So far she does not show signs of molting. She enters the water sometimes to cool off and emerged yesterday draped in kelp & sea lettuce.
