Right before I was going to leave the Ballona Freshwater marsh, I looked up & was surprisingly blessed with a very clear view of this belted kingfisher with its classic crest & stripe around its neck. Unfortunately, I did not get a clear photo before the kingfisher flew of as some loudly-talking people approached.
