Blooms very early, with the leaves unfolding; fragrant, shiny brown twigs with retrorse hairs; leaves pointed at both ends.

Differs from the regular L. fragrantissima by the backwards pointing hairs and the more pointed leaves. Should be either L. standishii or var standishii.
