This is not a species of Dragonfly one would expect to find in central Texas, the nearest reported record at OdonataCentral is some 200 miles south of here. Photo taken at Travis county Southeast Metro Park,

As Greg Mentioned probably the most photographed dragonfly today by six different photographers although many from similar angles Two days ago we had a Female and today the male.

Blue-faced Ringtail (Erpetogomphus eutainia) is local and uncommon in just a few locations in Texas. It is typically a late season bug (July-Sept) but @beschwar found one at Gonzales June 8 which is close to an early date for the species in Texas.

I met up with a friend from Houston this morning in Gonzales and we found two males, my first for this season. One of the most beautiful gomphids in the world in my opinion.
