June 2020 EcoQuest Results
You all put forth an amazing effort to document Desert Willow (Chilopsis linearis)! You safely explored your neighborhoods and helped us see where this beautiful tree is living. The overall observations of Desert Willow in metro Phoenix increased from 30 to 161, and it was found in places it hadn't been observed before. Way to go!

Amazing efforts !
I'm not going to be around any wildfire areas in July, so I'll be documenting milkweed species, specifically Asclepias subulata since Monarch populations are dwindling and it would be helpful to document habitat corridors for the butterfly. Thanks to everyone who is reviewing observations!
@thegardenhound No worries! The species we are looking for can be found all over the area. Even though the Sonoran Desert is NOT fire adapted, we hope the July EcoQuest is helpful in learning about what plants have a chance to resprout, establish from seed, or be planted to help recover after fire. Being more familiar with these plants and learning to identify them, wherever they may be growing, helps us understand the ecosystem better.
That's a great project to work on, and we have talked about pollinator corridors for an EcoQuest. Great data to collect! I have one in my front yard. :) Thank you for all of your efforts.
