We follow POWO. But since this swap has made looks like POWO now has both
Ruellia nudiflora as a synonym of Ruellia ciliatiflora

so the system will encourage curators to curate in that direction unless a deviation is created
but since Kew seems to be actively curating this branch on POWO can you reach out to r.govaerts at kew dot org to learn more about their reasoning before requesting a deviation?

I am curious what was the logic behind this taxon swap? Having experience with both species (R. yucatana & R. nudiflora) I can vouch that they are indeed two unique species readily told apart. POWO does not consider them synonymous either. A lot of good information regarding the native range and phenology for R. yucatana was effectively lost with this swap as well...
