howdy! my name is sunny, and my favorite taxa are new world vultures, reptiles of oceania and the southeastern united states, skin/dermestid beetles, and silphids!
🌞
i am fascinated by carrion decomposition, particularly species that feed on it! if you're interested, you can check out my project: Carrion Eaters.

🌞
sometimes i add a lot of comments on casual observations suggesting the addition of date/location, if i ever comment on multiple of your posts and you find it annoying that's my bad i forget the usernames of who i've already checked sometimes!
🌞
as of may 2022, i've been more active on here. i focus on advancing "needs id" observations and going through research grade new world vultures to fix some incorrect ids and confirm correct ones to hone my id skills.
🌞
although i believe wild animals should stay wild whenever possible, i do have experience from years in the captive 'exotics' hobby (primarily reptiles), including working at a reptile rescue, and would be happy to answer questions regarding captives.
🌞
please feel free to tag, mention, or message me if you ever want to correct me, ask something, or just chat. i greatly enjoy communicating with y'all.
🌞
tips for getting ids:

  • it's very helpful to make the most specific identification you can when posting. even something vague can be very helpful because many people only browse "needs id" posts of groups that they feel comfortable with.
  • you can select whether the specimen you've posted is alive or dead, as well as its life stage and sex. you can also indicate that it is an organism, bone, feather, scat, or track, which will bring the post to the attention of users who specialize in bone identification, etc.
