I am an aquatic ecologist and Master's student at Texas Tech University studying the nymphal and breeding habitat for the Calvert's Emerald (Somatochlora calverti). I graduated from Virginia Tech with a B. S. in Wildlife Conservation and a minor in Entomology. I have worked a few different field jobs, including Red Knot (Calidrus canutus) behavioral surveys on Virginia's Barrier Islands, conducting point counts across south-central Virginia for the Virginia Breeding Bird Atlas, and I most recently worked in an Aquatic Entomology lab at VT researching and identifying aquatic macroinvertebrates. I am a certified Stroud taxonomist for family level North American aquatic insects. I am really interested in carnivorous plants, especially Droseraceae, but I have no formal training with them and am still learning. Feel free to correct me or pass on your knowledge! I am far from infallible and also a little too lazy with IDs sometimes, so feel free to contact me via iNaturalist or email (hannaw21@vt.edu) with any questions, concerns, or to correct me!
