This is a copy of the list given by the US Fish and Wildlife Service of the species of birds that are protected by the MBTA (Migratory Bird Treaty Act), as of June 16, 2023. This list on iNaturalist isn't an official notice from the government and it might be out of date (not to mention that some of the scientific names have been changed to match iNaturalist's taxonomy), so don't use this as legal advice!
The purpose of this list is a personal reference of birds whose feathers I can and can't keep, as it is illegal to keep feathers or any other part of birds that are protected under the MBTA.
