29 May 2017 Morning, midday, and night bees
I added an old collection of bees from a couple years ago. I had labeled the file to indicate that I took photos all day. There are small wild onions up on the hill and I have been spreading their seeds to increase the number of flowers at the edge of the meadow uphill from the house. The number of bees (and a few flies) attracted to my chives makes me wonder if the two are connected.
There are a several white flowered thymes planted around the yard. One is culinary thyme, right next to the back porch, and the chives. There is a row about 3' long down the south side of the house along one of the long rock stairsteps. (It could be that one of the creeping thymes near the porch also has white flowers. All of them are withing 20' of that corner of the house.

I’m curious about what the adaptation for these mandibles might be. This is a small bee and she is quite top heavy looking.

This bee worked around the flower sideways in a circle, but one view shows her tongue out, so maybe she was nectaring as well.

The face shot didn't turn out clear, and I'm still learning what fovea looks like...but the ssoftware grouped this bee with Apis mellifera and Anthrophora and I'm pretty sure those are not correct.

Black with white stripes, & I think white hair bands are flat against and at apical end of terga. Legs black near body and lighter brown with pale hairs toward tarsi. Wings have dark tips, thought they are also warn and some edges are missing. Head is hidden, so may prevent from being names. Has hairs that look like scopa, but also a narrow wasp-like waist.

Bombus with orange tip, and there may be a section of black on T1 or else the hair is thinner there so the integument shows through the yellow hairs. Yellow hairs on face and thorax. Yellow on T1-2, orange on T3-4, black on T5-6. B. centralis or ?

Yellow face and thorax, sort of wide rounded diamond shape to interalar. Narrow yellow band and then wider yellow band on black abdomen.

These are not great photos, just recording that Nomada were seen at site previously. This one has a single yellow spot at lateral of T2 (or maybe it's on T3).

I can't be sure, but I think this one is the smallest of the three Osmia types posted from this day. It is on Purple Sage, Salvia dorii.

Another individual. This one has mites on scutum. Might be able to see prong on 2nd photo. 3rd is uncropped version of 1, to show thyme.

Wasp-like yellow with black bee (or wasp) but hairier than the other, very similar one, posted today. This one has green and rust eyes. These are all photos from same series,and this bee looks entirely different from different angles, but I think it is all the same example.

All observation on chives from this day are from one single clump. Green metallic bee, with kelly green, shiny, rounded abdemon and a warmer green on thorax and head.

Could be same female, with male mating or attempting and giving up. Not great photos, but I hope a mating series of some sort is better than none at all until better one comes in. Included several extra at end to show some of female head to match previous posts.

I am wondering if these small onions that grow on the rockier soil of this little ridge may be reason my chives are so attractive to so many native bees in my yard. All bees from this date were found on a single clump of chives.
