On 4th September 2023 we observed one species of the invasive fanworm "Branchiomma luctuosum" close to Preveza. The documentation took place in the narrow channel connecting the Ionian Sea with the Ambrakian Gulf, between the coast of Epirus and Western Greece. The water there is very cloudy like in the Ambrakian Gulf. We want to highlight this observation in the context of the importance of citizen sciene dectection of invasive species in the Mediterranean. In the utmost Northwest of the Ionian Islands, in the northern bay of Othonoi, we observed 2 Geryonia proboscidalis. The water was surprisingly warm this evening with 30 degrees. It's the first observation of this species in the Ionian Island. Thank you for the id @agapakisnikos

After documenting several new observations of dactylopterus volitans we are happy to see that one of our last year's observations https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/135708834 is featured as one of the descriptive pictures of this species.

Thanks to a great team of identifiers we were able to identify our 2 observations in the North East of Corfu as Mnemiopsis leidyi, first observation of this species for Western Greece and the Ionian Islands. Thank you @ctaklis, @blue_lotus and @lukas_scharer

Today we reached an incredible milestone of 10.000 posted observations!
