With Valeri Ponzo. Thinking that Dorn Road looked like it went through interesting habitat, we turned off US-1 and drove Dorn Road to its end, after traveling 7.2 miles. Parts of the road went through Florida Keys Wildlife and Environmental Area and National Key Deer Refuge, but we did not distinguish between public and the private land ownerships, primarily because so few animals were seen! (Why are wetlands in the Keys so depauperate of wading birds?). We started the drive at 1216 and ended it at 1317. We then continued northeast through the Florida Keys for the long drive home.
