Birds were very distant. Some pictures include snow geese for size comparison.
Given overall size I would say these are “Lesser’s”, bill shape is too long to be Cackling.
A rough, leafy plant with uniquely spiky leaves in clusters of three. Grew to be a bit over two feet off the ground in rocky, shaded soil.
A tree with long, thin, gray branches with light green leaves that are in an opposite arrangement from one another. The leaves are thin and linear.
A dark green simple-leaved plant with light green areas on each half of each leaf. The stem had many short and sharp spikes and was a very deep brown-green.
A plant about three feet in height with whorled green leaves with a white rim on each one. Farther down the plant, solid, broad leaves are much larger and thicker. Found in a shady area growing on a path of dirt on a rock.
