On a leader of downed oak
Photos 2 and 3 show it wet from rain.
see also https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/184780948 for another group on the same downed tree and few feet away.
When it is folded, I see no fibrils sticking up photos 4 and 5.
Photo 6 shows three smaller fruiting bodies of the same fungus after twelve hours drying indoors. The one on the left is dry and untouched. The middle one had water dripped on it. The one on right I bruised by biting on one side.
The last photo has the fruiting body shown in pix 2 and 3 now dried and chewed on one side.
I can't confidently say this is "staining yellow on bruising." That's a judgement call for which better judgement than mine is needed.
