Beautiful juvenile coastal carpet with a healed scar on its head.
This would have been a pretty bad injury for a young snake, and the snake was acting extremely defensively striking many times, possibly a learned self defense behaviour after its injury. A survivor.
This snake will likely be very recognisable if seen in the future due to its lighter colouration and distinct head scar which will likely remain somewhat visible its whole life.
Apologies for terrible photo. Keen to get an ID if at all possible?? Very yellow stripes particularly around head, pale white/cream belly, ~20cm long
Believed to be Egernia rugosa, found perched just outside a rotting log in dense jungle habitat.
