Growing in a tree like fashion (woody plant). Right off of the E01 parking lot, on side facing the Lake Herrick trails (next to telephone pole). Bordering the forestry area and growing in soil that seems to have a lot of clay and is covered by a lot of foliage. Leaves are opposite and at each leaf node there is usually two flowers emerging. Flowers are mainly white with pink base and have about 5 stamen. Lots of bees present.
Using Weakley Flora 2020, I keyed this plant to Lanicera maackii.
Found growing near base of tree in what appeals to be clay soil or an ant hill. Leaves are opposite and simple. There are 5 purple petals and a canal. Deep into the canal there are some white hairs/fuzz and at base of canal is what appears to be 5 yellow/orange stamen.
Using the Weakley Flora 2020 key, I think this plant is Vinca major.
