What little bird is hiding in the brush along the river bank…? Aw, man, just another junco.
Practice catching photos of birds soaring/flying overhead as the hawk evaded the gull - first mocked by the squirrel, then chased out of the neighborhood, he could not catch a break.
might not be confirmable but technically present in this photo. face pattern visible, very blurry, in right-center at edge of and behind dull red leaves in middle ground
Some more year-round neighbors who are always at Lane and in Clark Park. I have a few more juncos documented in different places along the way that I will also post in the spirit of the day, but normally if I already have at least a few “good” photos (to the limits of my camera/skills) of a common species, I don’t try for more.
OK, not a bird… but posing very cutely with an acorn right between me and the geese, so this squirrel gets an entry for Migratory Bird Day, too.

Keep going back and forth on Song vs Lincoln's. The streaks look a bit thin for a Song Sparrow but a bit thick for a Lincoln's; I think I can just make out a bit of buffiness on the flanks, breast, and malar area but can't tell for certain; the gray supercilium seems pretty broad but there's no peaked crown like you often see with a Lincoln's Sparrow; I'm not great at judging sparrow bills. Wish I had a better photo.
