I'm trying to figure out what kind of humming bird this is. There sometimes seems to be a separation of the the feathers on the gorget and the head and neck, like a Calliope which is not expected around here. the wings seem shorter than the tail, ect.
I really only see Anna's and Allen's Hummingbirds, so I usually end up finding out my my humming birds photos are one of those (again!)
I think this is a flycatcher but couldn’t say which one. I was trying to get a closer look in my scope but the light was bad and it flew off too quickly. Didn’t hear any calls to help with ID.
The swallows take up residence almost anywhere in and on the buildings at Duncans Mills. This is located on the inside of a public bathroom. You know you are a naturalist when you make wildlife observations in a bathroom ...
Putting on quite the morning performance! I wish I only knew more bird calls so I could appreciate how impressive this one's repertoire is.
