Second batch of photos taken of a duck with ducklings in Melaleuca Green, Chermside West. final two photos in this set - I am west and upstream from the duck family, looking east and downstream along the line of Downfall Creek - shows landscape setting/ habitat (such as it is! - a concrete-lined gutter with flat-mown lawn on either side..). Black ducks seem to be able to use this sort of degraded, depauperate landscape; not much else.
Not entirely sure whether the mama duck in this set of photos is a pure PBD or a mallard cross. Colour of legs isn't entirely clear due to variations in lighting.
Final set of photos of ducks in Melaleuca Green, Chermside West, on 19/6/2019. One mama duck with ducklings; then also, further upstream, a couple of adult ducks with no ducklings in tow. (I saw three adult ducks - two 'single' and one a mum with ducklings).
The pair are both in their favourite 'milder weather ' tree and the street is quiet so far today 🙂
