Rare one - found in one small area in gaps between black sage scrub, south facing slopes. Lack of larger shrubs in this locality, mostly black sage and opuntia here.
We weren't able to locate any live ones.
Only saw the snail after reviewing the photo later.
Dozens of live individuals seen in several areas of gambel oak woodland at approximately 9,400 feet elevation on the north side of Nogal Peak. When last in the area four weeks ago, I saw numerous dead individuals that appeared to be the same species.
Crazy worm looking thing on them. Also look at how they are like half out of their shell?!
