Up and down the flower stalk of Xanthorrhoea semiplana.
This particular ant with the golden bottom was a couple(few?) of mm's larger than the Southern Meat Ant (Iridomyrmex purpureus) which was also visiting the same bird-dropping patch.

I think I have the correct species ... these little ants were trying their hardest to move whatever that orange thing is... and getting nowhere quite fast 😆🤭
Large nest disturbed while building, ants were very non-aggressive. Nest relocated away from site.
