On a small, hardwood branch on the ground. The only 'occurrence' noted.
Habitat: Closed-canopy (more or less), secondary hardwood forest with a variety of canopy species and a number of recently-formed gaps.
New fruit bodies starting out as small little islands
Reddish flecks can be seen on the wood (photos 1 and 2 show them most clearly). I suspect they are fungal.
I have never seen a spider in this position, but I’m pretty sure it is an orbweaver species.
