I identified this plant as belonging to the family Ericaceae as each flower has connate petals that form the distinctive bell-shaped corolla that many plants in this family have.
This plant was identified as being of the Epacris genus as the anthers were quite distinctive and attached to the middle of the filament (PlantNET (The NSW Plant Information Network System). Royal Botanic Gardens and Domain Trust, Sydney. https://plantnet.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au).
This plant is the species Epacris impressa as the flowers are pendent, hanging low and looking downward (PlantNET).
This plant observation was quite interesting as there were a few of the same species close together but separated by other plants, weeds and foliage. Their leaves were indistinct amongst the greenery, but the flowers were quite bright and obvious. There were only a few flowers on each plant.
